The 2002 Pingyao International Photography Festival

   　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　 The 2002 Pingyao International Photography Festival, with the theme of "China Century" was held in Pingyao , Shanxi , China from September 16th to 22nd of 2002. 203 photographers from 13 countries exhibited over 4,000 pictures at 94 exhibitions. Alcatel and L'Oreal, two large multinational companies, joined the festival. The Organizing Committee of the PIP respectively held press conferences in Paris (France), Milan(Italy) and Madrid (Spain). 22 agreements on photo trade had been reached among photographers and photo agencies. At the PIP there are a good many pictures by internationally notable photographers including Marc Riboud (France), Patrick Zackman (France), Christina Garcia Rodero (Spain), Jeff Jacobson (USA), Igor Moukhine (Russia). Photographers from Denmark , Greece , Spain , Korea and Japan also showed their works.

    Some pictures collected by the Moscow House of Photography were also put on view. Thanks to the positive overall impression left by the first PIP, this year's festival proved a great success, exerting a much wider influence on the international photographic circles.
